Event: Unveiling of UBC’s Recreation Centre North 

The University of British Columbia’s Vancouver campus is opening the doors of its newest building, Recreation Centre North. This facility triples the amount of indoor fitness and recreation space for on the Vancouver campus for the university’s students, faculty, staff and larger community. 

Media are invited to: 

  • Cover the opening of the new building as students and community members enter and explore the facility 
  • Interview attendees 
  • Tour and engage with the new space

Background

Construction of Recreation Centre North began in 2022 to fulfill the university’s commitment to wellbeing by providing much-needed recreation space for community members. 

The facility has an indoor floor area of 101,000 sq. ft. spread over four levels and includes three gymnasium courts, an indoor run, roll, walk track, cardio and weightlifting areas and multipurpose studio space. The facility also boasts having the largest universal washroom on campus.
