Several outlets featured Jacqueline Sunderland-Groves, a researcher with the UBC faculty of forestry’s Wildlife Co-existence Lab who helped run a school to teach orphaned orangutans how to survive in the wild.
She gave a talk about the topic at the Beaty Biodiversity Museum on Sunday.
“A lot of what we do focuses on rescuing orangutans in areas of conflict, oil palm plantations, areas that were burned, areas that have had habitat disturbances, but also rescuing infants found in villages,” said Sunderland-Groves.
Stories appeared in the CBC, Globe and Mail, National Post, Vancouver Sun, The Province and Star Vancouver.
