Wendy Hall, a professor at UBC’s school of nursing, was interviewed for a CBC Radio Quirks and Quarks article on why we don’t sneeze while sleeping.
She said part of the reason is that slowed breathing means less particulate material on the mucous membranes of our respiratory system which tends to trigger sneezing.
