The Canadian Press interviewed Mary Ellen Turpel-Lafond, director of the UBC Indian Residential School History and Dialogue Centre and B.C.’s former children’s advocate.
Turpel-Lafond said the current child welfare system is not appropriate for Indigenous children, and that the inquiry into missing and murdered Indigenous women needs to be acted upon by governments.
The CP stories appeared in the Globe and Mail, The Province, News 1130 and Regina Leader-Post.
