Erik Eberhardt, director of geological engineering at the department of earth, ocean and atmospheric sciences at UBC, was quoted in a Journal of Commerce article about the value of tunnels in infrastructure.
“There’s public discussion about the costs and the possibility that tunnelling might be disruptive but not enough emphasis on the value of choosing to use underground space for infrastructure,” he said.
