Florin Gheorghe, a UBC mechanical engineering student spoke on Roundhouse Radio about his social venture that received a $1 million investment to pursue market expansion across Africa and India.
Gheorghe, CEO of Arbutus Medical which is a spinoff of a project that began at UBC, developed a surgical drill will make medical procedures more economical in the developing world.
“The device that we developed is a fully enclosed sterile barrier and it completely covers the hardware drill and lets you use it safely for surgery,” he said.
