The Globe and Mail published a Canadian Press story on innovative gadgets which are part of the growing market called “wearable technology.”
Dr. Vahid Sahiholnasab, a UBC clinical instructor of community internal medicine, created a solution for the so-called “Game Boy disease” where children complain of neck and back pain. Sahiholnasab’s product is the EyeForcer, which warns slouching kids and turn off the game when they’ve hunched over too many times.
“Whether we want it or not, we are heading toward wide use of technology in health care,” Sahiholnasab said.
UBC mechanical engineer graduate Cindy Gu, inventor of a smart belt that promotes mindful breathing, was also featured in the article.
The article also appeared on CBC News, Yahoo, City News, Global News, CTV News, Vancouver Sun, Montreal Gazette, The Province, Metro News, News 1130, and Castanet.
