Health Canada’s tight controls over a new home abortion pill that will soon be available in the market are overly restrictive, critics told
the National Post.
Wendy Norman, a sexual and reproductive health researcher at UBC, criticised the restricted drug access program which would allow doctors to insist on witnessing the woman taking the first dose, saying the requirement “is medically unnecessary and demeaning to Canadian women.”
There is no safety or medical basis for limiting dispensing to doctors, added Norman.
