Medical marijuana should be exempt from sales taxes, according to members of the Canadian Medical Cannabis Council patient advisory committee. In a Globe and Mail op-ed, the members cited UBC-funded research which showed that cost constraints prevent many Canadians with chronic health conditions from accessing legal marijuana. A sales tax, the authors said, would only make this situation worse.
