Dental care should be part of basic health care: UBC study

A new UBC study concludes all Canadians, especially low-income Canadians, should have access to dental care as part of their basic health care coverage, reports the Vancouver Sun.

The research found that 46 per cent of participants rated their oral health as fair to poor, and four out of 10 said they experience pain in their teeth and mouth.

These numbers are three times higher than the general Canadian population, according to researcher and UBC nursing professor Annette Browne.
