Hear from our experts about game-changing advances
UBC’s Next Big Thing edition was first launched in January 2006. That year research experts predicted prescription pets, conscious cars and the discovery of planets capable of life. By 2012, UBC experts were talking about medical maggots, ethical robots and the eradication of diabetes. For a full retrospective on past editions, click here.
More than 70 innovative ideas submitted in 2013
This year UBC Public Affairs threw open the online doors to solicit ideas from our community about what is cool in their field in 2013. We received more than 70 ideas, and guest editors Paul Cubbon (Sauder School of Business) and David Ng (Michael Smith Laboratories) helped us choose ten to feature starting Dec. 16.
