B.C. has a whopping 1,807 species at risk of extinction — but no rules to protect them

Several UBC professors signed an open letter published in The Narwhal about the number of endangered species in B.C. and the government’s failure to protect them.

Signatories were Tara Martin, Cole Burton and Peter Arcese, of the faculty of forestry, Kai Chan, from the institute for resources, environment and sustainability, Karen Hodges, from the department of biology and Sally Otto, of the biodiversity research centre.
