Halloween is the second most expensive holiday: survey

A News 1130 article on Halloween now being the second most expensive holiday after Christmas quoted Kate White, a marketing professor with the UBC Sauder School of Business.

The average person spends around $120 on costumes and entertainment, said White. Partly driven by nostalgia, millennials spend the most.

“Previous generations may not have gone trick-or-treating when they were younger, but this generation of adults grew up with it,” said White.
