Province reports highest rate of midwife-assisted births in Canada

The Vancouver Sun mentioned UBC’s midwifery program after a new report found that B.C. has the country’s leading rate in midwife-assisted births.

UBC’s program was expanded in 2012, allowing 20 spaces in each class. The first class since the expansion will graduate next year.

UBC also hosts the Internationally Educated Midwifery Bridging program, which helps midwives trained outside of Canada transition to B.C.’s system.

The story also appeared in The Province.
