Experts reveal hidden health benefits of artificial light

The Daily Mail featured UBC research in an article about the benefits of exposure to artificial light.

The UBC study exposed 122 depressed patients to 30 minutes of bright light soon after they awoke every day for eight weeks. This treatment improved their overall wellbeing.

Raymond Lam, a UBC psychiatrist and study lead author, said one theory is that light affects crucial brain chemicals, like serotonin and dopamine, in a similar way as anti-depressant drugs.
