A CBC story about the new 15 per cent real estate tax on foreign buyers suggests the home building industry could lose thousands of jobs in the coming months as demand for new homes decreases.
James Brander, a professor at the University of British Columbia’s Sauder School of Business, said job losses in one industry can trickle down to other industries such as restaurants, transportation and appliance sales.
