Economist blames media for high housing prices

News 1130 interviewed Tsur Somerville, director of UBC’s Centre for Urban Economics and Real Estate at the Sauder School of Business, for a story on where to place blame for high housing costs in Vancouver.

An American economist has blamed flashy headlines in the media, but also noted there is no one factor causing the affordable housing crisis.

“I don’t think the media is responsible for house prices in Vancouver being totally out of whack with wages,” Somerville said.
