The Washington Blade featured research from UBC’s school of nursing that found eating disorders continue to plague young LGBT youth while their straight counterparts have seen their rates decrease.
Ryan Watson, a UBC post-doctoral fellow at the school of nursing, said the reasons for the disparity among the different groups of youth are unknown, but it’s crucial that sexual minority kids need targeted programs.
