Bureaucrats don’t take think-tank reports seriously

Business Standard India reported on research from UBC’s Okanagan campus that found that government policy makers and advisors attach more credibility to university reports than they do to think-tank reports.

“We expect public servants to objectively examine the research evidence available to them,” said Carey Doberstein, assistant professor of political science at UBCO. “However, it seems many are taking shortcuts, and in essence giving academics a free pass.”
