Nurse-practitioners backbone of rural health care

UBC nursing professor Dr. Denise Tarlier wrote an op-ed published in the Kelowna Daily Courier about a proposal to add physician assistants into the mix of health-care providers in B.C.

“Physician assistants? Yes, bring them on. There is certainly more than enough need in health care to go around. But let’s not discount the significant contributions that fewer than 400 nurse practitioners have already made to health care in B.C. over the last 11 years,” she wrote.
