An op-ed in the Vancouver Sun quotes UBC history professor Henry Yu on the topic of saving Chinatown in Vancouver. The author questions whether or not it is necessary to preserve Chinatown as suggested by Yu.
“When I was small, my grandfather used to walk me to Chinatown … I loved the way the elderly men and women in the cafes would greet us, giving me candy and teasing my grandfather about how lucky he was to have a grandchild,” Yu wrote in an op-ed published in May.
