The Vancouver Sun interviewed UBCO management professor Eric Li for a story on the rise of garage sale culture.
Li said swapping and bidding has taken over from yard sales and contributed to the evolving garage sale culture and the evolution of shoppers as well.
“People are more environmentally conscious,” he said. “The younger generation has a different lifestyle. There is much less space in a two-bedroom apartment. You can only keep items that are useful.”
