Family doctor shortage in B.C.

More than 600,000 don’t have a family doctor in B.C. Dr. David Snadden, executive associate dean of education in the UBC Faculty of Medicine, spoke to CBC about how UBC is training doctors for the province.

“Since 2003 we’ve really expanded the number of medical school training places. We’ve gone from 128 to 288 and we’ve also expanded the number of residents places,” said Snadden. “The numbers are beginning to look better.”
