The story of the tragic death of Ezekiel Stephan

The National Post interviewed James McCormack, a UBC professor in the faculty of pharmaceutical sciences, for a story on the tragic death of Ezekiel Stephan.

The young boy’s parents relied on naturopathic medicine when their toddler contracted meningitis and he later died.

McCormack reviewed many of the studies of one supplement that Ezekiel regularly took. He found they were almost all cohort or case studies. He also said the word “cure” should not necessarily be used in relation to mental illness.

“We cure pneumonia. We can sometimes cure cancer. We can sometimes cure a broken leg by setting it,” he said.
