Germany’s international broadcaster, Deutsche Welle, aired a segment on violence against Canada’s indigenous women, particularly those from the Downtown Eastside.
“Indigenous women in Canada experience much higher rates of all forms of violence,” UBC nursing professor Colleen Varcoe, who studies violence against indigenous women, told DW. “[They] face extensive racism.”
