Envisioning a vegans-only world

Discovery News highlighted a new study from Vienna’s Institute of Social Ecology showing that it’s possible to feed all of humanity in the future without cutting down more forests for agriculture–but only if everyone is vegan.

UBC geographer Verena Seufert praised the study for exploring many different scenarios for feeding people, adding that other options should be explored including reducing food waste, producing lab-grown meats and popularising edible insects.

Seufert is based at UBC’s Liu Institute for Global Issues and Institute for Resources Environment & Sustainability.
