Canadian breaststroke swimmer and UBC arts alumnus Annamay Pierse will head to the London 2012 Olympic Games to join CTV’s Olympic broadcasting team. Pierse will be poolside during every swimming event at the Games as a swimming research coordinator.
When Pierse missed out on her chance to qualify for London 2012 by 2.33 seconds in March, she took some time away from the pool before realizing she still wanted to be in London. “I had met with CTV a couple times so I basically just called them up and told them they had to bring me and that I was going to make their swimming coverage a lot better,” she said.
Her world-record time of two minutes and 20.12 seconds for the women’s 200-metre breaststroke still stands.
