UBC med school’s first profs leave $3.3M scholarship legacy

Metro News reported on a $3.3 million scholarship donation for UBC’s medical school thanks to two of the school’s first professors.

The late Constance and Sydney Friedman helped create the fledgling department in 1950 and the sale of their home led to this donation.

“The Friedmans were instrumental in making the UBC Faculty of Medicine the exceptional medical school that it is today,” said UBC president Santa Ono in a statement. “The university is grateful for everything they did and the endowment that allows that good work to continue.”
