Why more women are ditching the birth control pill

Dr. Jerilynn Prior, a UBC endocrinology professor and scientific director of UBC’s Centre for Menstrual Cycle and Ovulation Research, spoke to the Toronto Star for an article on the decreasing number of women who take the birth control pill.

Prior calls the medication “an inferior option” and is concerned it is prescribed too readily.

“It’s not good enough to say we’ve used it for 50 years, therefore it must be perfect,” she said.
