The Journal of Commerce featured research on recycling concrete by Shahria Alam, a professor in the School of Engineering at UBC’s Okanagan campus.
Alam found that recycled coarse aggregate can be used effectively in concrete. He also said that sustainability is becoming more prevalent in his research.
“Through my research, we strive to make things sustainable for our next generation, which makes me enthusiastic about my work,” Alam said. “The goal is to keep as much out of the landfill as possible.”
