Don’t call it exercise, says doctor

24 Hours Vancouver interviewed Dr. Maureen Ashe, a UBC family practice professor, for a story on the importance of exercise.

She said involving any amount of movement in your day is beneficial.

“We don’t want people to feel bad they’re not exercising — this is about them finding ways to incorporate more activity into their day,” she said. “Sometimes people don’t actually like the word exercise, but once they realize physical activity is this comprehensive term — yes, exercise is good — but there are other ways of incorporating it into our lives.”
