Smoke’s aims for global poutine domination despite challenges

BNN interviewed Ann Stone, UBC Sauder School of Business professor, for a story on the expansion of a major poutine restaurant.

Stone said one of the only ways to accomplish this expansion is through master franchise or licence agreements.

Smoke’s wants to expand to more than 1,000 shops by 2020, but opening hundreds of stores in the U.S. will be “very challenging” since master franchise agreements are not popular in that country.
