Study finds foreign buyers impact Vancouver real estate

The Georgia Straight cited a 2012 study co-authored by Tsur Somerville, of UBC’s Sauder School of Business for a story about foreign investment in Vancouver real estate.

The research, done in collaboration with a Simon Fraser University professor, found that when an immigrant investors program was closed to new applicants, property prices in neighbourhoods preferred by Chinese immigrants dropped by an average of 2.5 per cent compared to non-Chinese neighbourhoods.
