Michael Byers, the Canada Research Chair in Global Politics and International Law at UBC, wrote an op-ed for the Globe and Mail about how a northern voyage contributed to diplomacy between China and Canada.
“It is time to engage China pro-actively on the Northwest Passage issue, to maximize common interests and strengthen mutual claims,” he wrote.
