B.C. Aboriginal population grew 38 per cent in last decade

The Vancouver Sun quoted Rima Wilkes, a UBC sociology professor who studies Indigenous and immigration issues, about new Statistics Canada data that showed an increase in B.C.’s Aboriginal population.

“I think it’s a really good news story for Indigenous communities because growth is really healthy,” she said. “At the same time, (becoming) a relatively larger share of the population does increase relative power.”
