Eugenia Socias, a researcher in UBC’s department of medicine, was quoted in a Montreal Gazette article about addressing the opioid crisis.
She said the crisis has become worse “because of the introduction of illicitly manufactured fentanyl, which is a consequence of law enforcement focusing on the supply side of drugs without adequately addressing the needs of people who have become addicted.”
