B.C. teaching programs see increase in applications

A CBC story (reposted on Yahoo) on B.C.’s teacher hiring spree quoted Wendy Carr, UBC’s associate dean of teacher education. Said Carr: “For anybody who’s been considering teaching as a career, they see opportunity, they see the possibility of employment where in previous years it’s been a bit of a wait for some people.”

UBC professor emeritus Charles Ungerleider said enrolment in education programs in Canada is generally steady partly because aspiring teachers want to help society and guide future generations.
