UBC research about estimates of the global coal supply was highlighted in a Bloomberg article.
Justin Ritchie, a UBC PhD candidate in resources and the environment, and professor Hadi Dowlatabadi, wrote that inflated coal estimates became “a virtually unlimited backstop supply [that] has misinformed a generation of long-term energy scenarios.”
