First Arctic patrol ship called ‘significant challenge’

The Canadian Press reported on Irving Shipyard’s difficulties completing Canada’s first Arctic offshore patrol ship on time and within budget.

UBC political science professor Michael Byers said government will likely have to scale back its plans to build six to eight of the Arctic patrol vessels. He added that the reopened Davie shipyard in Levis, Que., could become an option for undertaking some of the shipbuilding work.
