Are infrared saunas healthy?

Dr. Richard Beever, a clinical assistant professor of family medicine at UBC, commented on the possible health benefits of infrared saunas in a Time article.

Beever reviewed studies on the subject and found evidence to support the use of infrared saunas for conditions such as congestive heart failure and chronic pain.

“As infrared heat penetrates more deeply than warmed air, users develop a more vigorous sweat at a lower temperature than they would in traditional saunas,” he said.
