An op-ed on the Vancouver Courier on unaffordable housing quoted Christopher Rea, director of UBC’s Centre for Chinese Research.
A survey of UBC deans that found 18 people turned down jobs at the university because of housing costs. Rea said the university has been discussing this dilemma for years.
“Should UBC be leasing its land for hundreds of years to the open market and mostly to the global rich?” Rea asked.
