Liberals break $200M promise to post-secondary First Nation students

The Liberals federal budget announcement failed to live up to their campaign promise of increasing financial assistance to First Nations and Inuit students in university and college by $50 million each year, APTN reported.

“Post-secondary has created a ripple effect in my community,” said Anna McKenzie, a recent UBC graduate. “With the fastest growing population in Canada, our government has a responsibility to support Indigenous youth and adults who aspire to attend post-secondary. This is an enormous setback and disappointment for a government who has promised to forge a new nation-to-nation relationship.”
