The happiest country in the world is not the U.S. — it’s Denmark

An international study on happiness co-authored by UBC economist John Helliwell was highlighted in the New York Daily News, Shape, Metro US, and Vancity Buzz. Denmark was ranked number one, with Canada coming in at sixth place. The evaluations were based on personal responses to a Gallup poll.

Helliwell said there’s a lot of consistency at the top of the rankings, reflecting mainly that “life evaluations are based on life circumstances that usually evolve slowly, and that are all at high levels in the top countries.”
