UBC brings water-quality solutions to remote communities

Mobile water treatment plants developed by UBC researchers are bringing safe drinking water to B.C.’s remote rural communities, reports the Vancouver Sun.

UBC engineering professor Madjid Mohseni and his team built two mobile plants equipped with various filters, activated carbon, ultraviolet purifiers and a chlorination system, which allowed them to work with B.C. communities to develop full-scale solutions that were suitable for local conditions. Using this process, a full-scale treatment plant has been installed at the Nickeyeah Reserve near Lytton.
