UBC has been recognized as one of Canada’s Top Employers for Young People in 2015, and the only post-secondary institution to be chosen. This designation recognizes employers that offer the country’s best benefits for younger workers. UBC received this award for attracting and retaining young employees for the third year in a row.
Some of the services that UBC offers to support young employees are:
- A postdoctoral fellows office, which acts as a resource centre to help postdocs expand their professional skills
- Learning and development programs for employees including Coaching@UBC, career and personal development workshops, and an academic leadership development program for faculty
- “Hot Lunch,” a cross-campus networking initiative that provides staff with opportunities to connect with colleagues in other departments.
