School of Nursing’s Prof. Joan Bottorff (UBC Okanagan) and Prof. John Oliffe (UBC Vancouver) have led a team of UBC researchers to develop a web-based resource to help new dads reduce and quit smoking. The Dads in Gear website has videos of experts speaking about nicotine addiction, fathering issues, and healthy living, as well as testimonials from dads who have successfully quit smoking. Resources include hints for dealing with cravings, quizzes, polls and places for dads to share their stories. The website was launched for National Non-Smoking Week on Jan. 19 to 25.
