UBC launches groundbreaking energy storage project

UBC’s Living Lab has launched a multimillion dollar stored-energy project alongside Alpha Technologies, Corvus Energy and Natural Resources Canada.

The project consists of three power stations that are able to share energy with each other when one is running low.

“This has huge research potential,” said Martin Ordonez, an electrical and computer engineering professor at UBC. “We can get a level of functionality that used to be unthinkable. The integration of these systems hasn’t been done before.” BIV
