Students – Russia
Julia Dorofeeva, MBA student, UBC’s Sauder School of Business
“I am volunteering at the Russia House, which is the place where all the athletes can get together and receive support. We have had the first Russian medalist, Ivan Skobrev, holding a press conference, and I was very excited to see him. I am watching all the competitions, but I am particularly following biathlon.”
Students – USA
Jodie Rummer, of Springfield, Illinois, doctoral studies, Zoology
“The U.S. will, no doubt, bring respect and their A-game to meet Russia and whomever else they face later this week; their intensity will add to the anticipation continuing to build in all of us. The Canadians appreciate the intensity the U.S. women are bringing and welcome the challenge they will likely face later this week. It will be exhilarating, and I’m thrilled to be here witnessing such incredible talent and spirit!”
Ellen Arena, of Madison, Wisconsin, doctoral studies, Microbiology and Immunology
“To stay updated with Team USA I have signed up for e-mail alerts from the U.S. Olympic Committee. I am sent daily e-mails with all the highlights and updates on all the athletes and events. It’s a great way to stay in touch with my American team!”
