An amazing range of military and national security experts will give half-hour presentations on current national and regional activities in military space. Opening with a historic overview and general perspective of military space activities, this all-day panel includes presentations on trends in space security and a discussion of international perspectives on military space activities.

Briding the Digital Divide

The workshop will look at the underlying technology and the various areas of application of communication satellites: where we stand at present and what developments we may expect in the coming years. Speakers include experts from major Canadian companies which own and operate communication satellites. They will also bring along equipment to demonstrate the practical benefits of these tele-services.

Threats from Near Earth Objects

How likely are asteroids and comets to hit the earth? This workshop will explore the origin and physical nature of “near earth objects” and the possibilities and consequences of impact. Experts will present both a historical perspective and explain global survey efforts to avoid collision.

Public Panel: Space industry, where do we stand?

The Space Industry Panel will bring together a group of senior, international and diverse leaders from a number of key sectors of the space industry – satellite operators, system integrators, and subsystem and component manufacturers. They will address key issues facing the various parts of the space industry including its current state and its future direction, the roles of government and commercial customers, and the potential impact of new entrepreneurial space activities. They will also discuss career opportunities for young people in the space industry.
