UBC students win second place at national business
plan competition

UBC integrated engineering students Troy Cressman and Ryan Tung
partnered with biochemistry student James Wells to win second place
at the Entreprize Entrepreneurship Conference and business plan
competition, held in Vancouver on February 27-29. Their plan capitalized
on technology used to remove phosphorous from wastewater plants,
and explained how the technology, originally developed by civil
engineering’s environmental engineering group, could be commercialized
to create a win-win-win business model for the municipality, the
University Industrial Liaison Office and a UBC spin-off company.

The goal of the Enterprize Entrepreneurship Conference is to be
a pre-eminent source of business information. It provides participants
with interactive discussion forums, award-winning speakers, business
plan competition, as well as networking events with prominent business
delegates and representatives from international business schools.
Enterprize helps provide the tools to transform entrepreneurial
visions into reality.
